Long Pole Magnetic Chuck

Magnetic chucks are becoming recognized as the first option for workholding steel parts on a milling machine.
Today’s magnets have become more powerful to the extent that high stock removal rates can be achieved.
In addition, the workpiece does not have to be “flat”.  Simple top tooling (pole extensions) can be utilized to accommodate most geometric shapes.

It is important to select the right pole design for the application and the use of Long Pole Magnetic Chucks have a role to play since they offer many advantages over their square and round pole counterparts.

• Clamp forces are greater – there is less “inter-pole area” (no force is generated between the poles).
• Top Tooling is much easier and less costly.
• Ideal for round bar machining

As with all DocMagnet Magnetic Chucks, the Long Pole series have all-steel surfaces – most competitive models provide for resin between the poles which impair quality and longevity.

The “all-steel” design also provides for tee-slotted options thus giving the user far greater flexibility for non-magnetic work.

DocMagnet offers two standard polar arrangements the choice of which is determined mostly by the customer’s application and workpiece type, LP50 and LP70.  Special pole configurations are always an option if the application warrants it.
